In Padua at the end of the 19th century, the students and young fellows of the city used to go to eat at an old trattoria located in Via dell’Arco no. 2, where Pompeo vigorously served them.
After the war and after having served as a chef at the Belgian embassy in Vienna and later on at the General Clark’s fifth army, Italo Morosi returned to Italy and winded up in Padua. In May 1946 he decided, together with his wife Delia, to take over the old trattoria, quickly transforming it into the most renowned and famous restaurant in the city: “Toscanelli”, a name acquired deriving from his Tuscan roots.
From a poetic and distinctive aspect, which clearly shines through in the painting that portrays the Hotel Majestic Toscanelli, airing the historic center of post-war Padua, little remains today, but the carefully renovated ancient sixteenth-century palace still houses the Morosi family, who in 1968 opened the Hotel.
Italo and Delia’s children, Anna Maria, Mario and Paolo, continue the family tradition, making it an absolute value and passing on its contents to the third generation. The two cousins Augusta Morosi and Elisa Valentini have lovingly taken care of the management of the Hotel since 2019.
